Andalusia, AL — The Covington County Economic Development Commission (CCEDC) announces the appointment of Jacob Morgan as its new President and CEO, following the recent passing of long-time CEO Rick Clifton. Morgan steps into the role with a deep respect for Clifton’s legacy and a strong commitment to continuing the mission of fostering investment, job growth, and enhanced quality of life in Covington County. Rick Clifton, who led CCEDC with vision and dedication for over a decade, was instrumental in positioning Covington County as a competitive and welcoming destination for businesses across a diverse range of industries.

Jacob Morgan, who previously served as CCEDC Vice President, brings a wealth of experience in economic development and a passion for community-driven progress. Reflecting on his new role, Morgan shared:  “It’s an honor to follow in Rick’s footsteps. He was a mentor and a friend, and his impact on Covington County will be remembered. I’m committed to building on the strong foundation he established—supporting our local businesses, attracting new industries, and ensuring that Covington County continues to thrive.” Under Morgan’s leadership, CCEDC will continue to serve as a one-stop resource center for entrepreneurs and businesses, connecting them with funding opportunities, workforce development programs, and strategic support. The organization remains focused on its vision to create the best possible economic advantages in its prime Southeast Alabama location, just over the Florida border.

Morgan emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in the transition: “Economic development is about people—our workforce, our business owners, and our community leaders. I look forward to working with all of them in this new role to create new opportunities and help ensure that our area remains a place where businesses and families can grow and succeed. The beautiful thing about economic development in Covington County is, when one community wins, we all win!”
